Jay Hernandez said about his character El Diablo, "He's a fighter, but he's not giving up that side of his life, because of an attempt that took place. He backed away from criminality. He backed away from aggression. He's backed away from being who he is. It's part of his superpower that he has. It ain't part of him. It's been with him since he was really young. It's like he gave up a big part of who he was, and later rediscovers it to be okay with accessing that side of him."
