Director Cartel and four crew members filmed several reels of 16 mm footage at the San Onofre (California nuclear power plant) anti-nuke demonstration on August, 1979. Sequences of the event were planned to be optically enhanced (blown up) to 35 mm with the starting title cards supered over the beginning two minutes. Cartel was dissatisfied with the idea and used a slow pan of a dead desert scene for the titles instead.
