Producer George Barrie was hoping to star team together in this picture actor Paul Newman and actress Glenda Jackson in the two lead roles respectively of Les Bingham and Katie Bingham according to an article published in the 1st December 1974 issue of 'The New York Times' newspaper. In the end though, the parts were cast with actor Elliott Gould and actress Diane Keaton respectively.
