Jen Taylor, who voices Cortana and Dr. Halsey in the games, was originally not going to be in the show. However scheduling conflicts caused by COVID-19 made the role of Cortana possible. During her audition for Cortana over Zoom, without Taylor's knowledge, the writer, director, and executive producer were mostly ignoring her audition and were texting on their phones. When she finished, the director said "okay, well I'm sold, see you in Budapest." Taylor claims she was confused by the response, but got very excited when she realized she got the job.
