The front man would know there was an intruder solely based on the fact that his phone was placed left-to-right on the receiver instead of his habitual right-to-left. The irony is that Front Man is shown to be left-handed and his brother to be right-handed (based on how they hold their weapons) so you'd think it would be the opposite.
