A decade earlier, Samuel L. Jackson had starred as Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episodio II - L'attacco dei cloni (2002). Leonardo DiCaprio was the original choice to play Anakin Skywalker, but Hayden Christensen was cast in the role. In that movie, Mace Windu kills the bounty-hunter Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison). George Lucas named the character after the protagonist of Django (1966), which was Quentin Tarantino's inspiration behind this movie. In this movie, Jamie Foxx's Django is a slave-turned-bounty-hunter.
