First film in the series for director Justin Lin, writer Chris Morgan and actor Sung Kang. Lin was so impressed by Kang's performance in his previous movie Better Luck Tomorrow (2002) that he also introduced the character into the Fast & Furious. Although 'Better Luck Tomorrow' is not considered an official sequel, it is the accepted canon backstory for Han.
