It is possible to protect oneself from the Triffids by wearing helmets made with several layers of net mesh and heavy gauntlets that Triffid stingers can't penetrate. They do know when to quit if their attacks are ineffective but it may take a while and they will increase their numbers to step up their attacks. Net fences can keep Triffids out but they will try to find a way past it or wait for someone to come out. Masen wears meshed masks and gloves when dealing with the Triffids.
