The film's cast had already been involved in comedies popular with Japanese audiences at the time. Ichirô Arishima was popular for his role in the Young Guy and Company President series, and was sometimes described as the Japanese Chaplin. The duo of Tadao Takashima and Yû Fujiki had already been paired up as a straight man/funny man duo in prior films as well.
