This was composer Bernard Herrmann's favorite of his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, although he felt that James Stewart was miscast. "I don't believe that he would be that wild about any woman", he said. When "Vertigo" flopped on its initial release, Hitchcock ended up agreeing with Herrmann.
