Johannes Roberts is a huge fan of John Carpenter. He based Leon S. Kennedy on Jack Burton from John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China. Both characters are likeable and sympathetic anti heroes, yet they are completely incompetent, don't know what the hell is going on and their only heroic deed is killing the main villain at the very end. One could even argue they are the comedic relief.
