The scene where the airplane flew over the stadium actually happened in real life. However, this was a planned event, unlike it being staged in this movie. One of the sponsors for the Rugby World Cup, South African Airways, had their jet, which had the message painted on it, fly over the stadium twice, energizing the crowds.
