Several episodes make allusions and references to another DC comics property, "The Legion of Superheroes". These includes the appearance of a Legion flight ring in the Fortress of Solitude, the mentioning of various alien races and planets that figure prominently in the Legion storylines, the introduction of Mon-El, and the name-dropping of that character's alternate identities, "Lar Gand" and "Valor (Val-Or)". The Legion are a teenage superhero team founded in the 31st century that was inspired by the exploits of Superboy. Through various types of time travel, Supergirl, Superman, and Mon-El all became members of the Legion.
