When Anderton is getting his eyeballs surgically replaced, the procedure looks rather similar to the Ludovico technique from Stanley Kubrick's Arancia meccanica (1971). Not only was Spielberg an admirer and a close friend of Kubrick, but Cruise co-starred in Kubrick's final film Eyes Wide Shut (1999).
