The film draws elements from the first Wonder Woman comic story: Steve Trevor crashes a plane at Themyscira, and Diana accompanies him to the outside world."Doctor Poison" leads a German research division to unleash a gas on the Allies.The only major change is the setting: the comic is set in 1941, during World War 2, while in this film the setting is World War 1.
