Though the film mostly takes place in 2019, the film's prologue is set in 2009. During the scene where Scooby and Shaggy are hiding in an arcade, there is a poster for The Hex Girls, an in-universe goth-rock band that debuted in Scooby-Doo e il fantasma della strega (1999). The concert date reads February 29, 2019, which is fictional due to 2019 not being a leap year. Later, in his heartfelt speech he gives to everyone, Shaggy says that he met Scooby-Doo 10 years ago.
