Just like "T.J. Hooker", another cop series produced by Aaron Spelling and created by Rick Husky, where the officers refer to themselves by the fictitious LCPD, the SWAT Team does not identify themselves as members of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) despite obviously set in Los Angeles and having police cars with LAPD markings and LAPD uniforms. The police department in this series is called the "WCPD". No explanation has ever been given as to what the acronym stands for.
