This marks the first time where a Pixar film released the same year as a computer-animated film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, with this year's case being this film releasing the same year as Uno zoo in fuga (2006) (which also stars Richard Kind), this happened to every Pixar film afterwards, with the exceptions of Up (2009) and this film's sequel Cars 2 (2011), which both released the same year as the last two hand-drawn animated films from Walt Disney Animation Studios being La principessa e il ranocchio (2009) and Winnie the Pooh - Nuove avventure nel Bosco dei Cento Acri (2011) until Strange World (2022).
