In the original comic books by Jack Kirby, the Deviants are not mindless beasts but a technologically advanced race similar to the Eternals (since, also in the original comics, Humanity as well as Deviants and Eternals were created by the Celestials' experiments on early chimps). The differences between the Deviants and the Eternals in the comics are many, such as the Eternals primarily are regarded as God-Like beings by the Humans while the Deviants are regarded as monsters and demons who propagate chaotically, exhibiting a vast degree of physical differences, even from parent to child.
