Producer Mel Brooks was known for his work with Gene Wilder. They worked together on The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein. Prior to that, Wilder had appeared on stage with Anne Bancroft in Mother Courage and Her Children, and before that played Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That role was played in the film by Brad Dourif, who worked with David Lynch in Dune and Blue Velvet.
