It is often erroneously mentioned that an uncredited "From Here To Eternity" author James Jones can be seen as one of the New Congress Club patrons in the scene where Ernest Borgnine pounds clumsily on the piano. This is incorrect, but a soldier marching behind Montgomery Clift in one of the scenes in which the Company is drilling strongly resembles Jones, and may possibly be him.
