Due to various scripting issues, animation errors and a rushed production, characters who are killed off or turned into different forms can still be seen alive after they have supposedly died. Thundercracker and Skywarp show up alive at Starscream's coronation after Unicron has supposedly reformatted them into Galvatron's troops. This is because in the original script, they did survive and Galvatron's minions had a different origin, and the animation follows this early script version. All three original Insecticons die and are also turned into new bodies, yet not only do they also appear later, one of them even gets a speaking part, and they continue to show up in season 3 of Transformers (1984) that follows the movie - however, since the Insecticons could clone themselves, these reappearances have some leeway. The Coneheads (Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet) seemingly meet their end when they fly into Unicron's mouth, but they also show up alive in the animated series' third season.
