In the earlier episodes of HIMYM, Robin (Cobie Smulders)'s father was played by Eric Braeden, who has also played the part of Victor Newman for literally decades on the daytime drama, Febbre d'amore (1973). Then, in the later episodes of HIMYM, Robin's father was played by Ray Wise, who has for many years played the part of Ian Ward, one of Victor Newman's main antagonists on "The Young and the Restless."
