In the ballroom scene where Lorelei, Igor and Victor are discussing "creating life out of death", Igor says that science and technology change lives every day. The earliest use of the word technology found so far is 1816, and Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1817, published in 1818. Ms. Shelley was quite avant-garde.
