Often considered by most fans to be the best Star Trek film featuring the original cast while Primo contatto (1996) is often cited as the best Next Generation film. Both films deal with a character obsessed with revenge against a sworn enemy that has caused them great psychological and emotional harm. The difference is that while James T. Kirk was not responsible for what happened to Khan, the Borg were entirely at fault for what happened to Jean-Luc Picard. Another difference is that Jean-Luc realized his obsession and was able to defeat his enemy and save his crew, Khan did not and he and his crew subsequently died. Finally, both films quote from "Moby Dick", also a revenge story.
