The captive main character victim's fates are foreshadowed prior to the crash in the film via their distinctive personality traits: Jonah and his weight issues, Samantha and her tendency to over-tattoo all extendable portions of her skin, Amy and her revealed depression/anxiety displayed with self-harm scars on her wrists from cutting, Lars and his cannabis craze and Daniel and his perceptive eye taking in the mangled corpse of a formerly punished victim of the village (complete with broken arm and leg bones on a totem pole).
