Towards the middle of the movie Antlers Holst says to Emerald "This dream you're chasing, the one where you end up at the top of the mountain, all eyes on you. It's the dream you never wake up from." This mirrors his death as he literally ends up at the top of the mountain with all eyes on him before being swallowed up by the creature (Jean Jacket).
