William Sadler's cameo as the Mummy is extremely similar to a guest spot he did in an episode of the HBO series I racconti della cripta: The Assassin (1994). In it, he plays the Grim Reaper and gets into a high stakes game of chance with the Crypt Keeper which includes a part where he chops off the Crypt Keeper's hand, just as he does in this movie. The scene also includes a number of identical lines from the original spot.
