The scene of Rue hallucinating that she is climbing up the walls and ceiling while on drugs is a classic film visual effect first used in the Fred Astaire movie Sua altezza si sposa (1951). It is accomplished by placing the set in a spinning centrifuge with the camera at a fixed perspective.
