In S03E01 there is a note scribbled on a note pad that reads "you killed my son, prepare to die" which is a play on the quote "you killed my father, prepare to die" spoken by Iñigo Montoya in La storia fantastica (1987). Mandy Patinkin who played the role of Montoya also plays Saul Berenson in Homeland.
