Guest stars were allowed to appear on the show only once. None of them appeared as guests on Muppets Tonight (1996). However, TV specials were an exception. John Denver appeared in John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together (1979) and Rocky Mountain Holiday with John Denver and the Muppets (1983). Dudley Moore appeared in The Muppets Go to the Movies (1981).
