The film has some nods to the film Saw - L'enigmista (2004). For example: The Riddler's deep modulated voice sounds similar to Jigsaw's voice.The way The Riddler sets his traps up and kills his victims are similar to Jigsaw's methods. For instance, The Riddler's fatal Rat Trap for Commissioner Savage is partially similar to Jigsaw's Reverse Bear Trap.The scene where The Riddler purposefully lures Batman into playing a dangerous puzzle game during the hostage situation with Coulson is somewhat similar to Jigsaw forcing his victims to play dangerous puzzle games.
