The film briefly shows an attack by torpedo planes from the carrier Hornet, which were all shot down by Japanese fighters, with only one survivor, ensign George H. Gay Jr. The rest of the attack group from Hornet - the fighters and dive bombers led by Stanhope C. Ring - followed the coordinates originally given to them and wound up ditching in the ocean.
