It's noted that during the Tudor times, Catherine of Aragon was beloved by the people of England, more so than Anne Boleyn. Initially, Catherine wasn't welcomed by the royal British court due to her being a foreigner. Yet, after Arthur's death and after she married Henry years later, the people began to warm up to her as time went on and she gained immense support. On the other hand, Anne was strongly detested by the people due to her openly engaging in adultery with Henry in an effort to become queen, and her and her family's growing influence on the British court. Ironically, Catherine's daughter, Mary I, who was initially beloved by the people, would go on to become the most despised and feared woman in England due to her deadly treatment toward those who are Protestants and would force people to denounce their Protestant religion or face execution. Thus, she ended up with the infamous moniker, Bloody Mary. Equally ironic, Anne's daughter, Elizabeth I, who was initially not liked by the people, went on to become very much loved due to her strong, strategic, and protective rule over England.
