Jessica Henwick auditioned for the part of Rey for six months and even was a finalist for the role, but she lost out to Daisy Ridley. J.J. Abrams wrote the character Jessika Pava (credited as "Jess Testor") specifically for her. Henwick had expressed interest in returning in Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019), but her character wasn't included in the film.
