During the film's early stages, costume designer Catherine Martin was pondering how she and her team would make the elaborate costumes for Elvis Presley's Vegas Era. While researching at Graceland, Martin came across some reproduced clothing made for the home's exhibitions and noticed a replica of the white suit that Elvis wore during his "If I Can Dream" performance during the Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968). She stated that "surprisingly, it was great quality." Martin looked at the tag on the suit and saw it was from B&K Enterprises. She researched the costume company online and contacted the company for a request for them to make a few jumpsuits for the auditions. Eventually, due to Martin being so impressed with the craftsmanship and authenticity of the jumpsuits, the company was hired to make the jumpsuits for the film. B&K Enterprises founder Butch Polston stated, "She asked us to make some of these different costumes and send [them] to her." Polston further states, "[It] Wasn't anything fancy. They were just doing auditions at the time. That started it. She liked our work, and she called and said, 'I want you guys to be part of this.'" Martin traveled to Charlestown, Indiana, to meet Butch and his wife and B&K Enterprises co-founder, Kim Polston, and they made the collaboration official.
