This is historically accurate and in line with the movie taking place around Christmas, 1944, as the first units of the US 10th Armored division arrived at the outskirts of Bastogne on December 18 and the US 4th Armored Division reached Bastogne and made contact with the encircled US 101st Airborne division on December 26.
