The power Sonic wields is based on Chaos energy, which first appeared in Sonikku adobenchâ (1998). This is power that enables its user to carry out amazing reality-bending feats if used properly. This is first seen in the film when Sonic in an argument with Tom starts to charge up with electricity, then in his final battle he is revived after Robotnik guns him down and transforms into a "Super Sonic" mode.
