The name Hårga comes from the legend of Hårgalåten (the Hårga song), which is quite accurately described at the beginning of the dancing scene. According to the legend, the Devil disguised himself as a fiddler and led every teenager and young adult in the village of Hårga up to a mountain, where they started dancing. Under influence of the Devil's power they couldn't stop dancing despite becoming increasingly exhausted. They kept dancing until their whole bodies had been completely worn down and even then, the heads kept rolling around on the bloodcovered ground, as if they were still dancing. Hårgalåten is one of the more commonly known folk songs in Sweden.
