When producer Frank Mancuso Jr. left after the previous film, Paramount decided to amp up the nudity and gore to try and keep ticket sales from dropping. They hired Danny Steinmann to direct, but, unlike previous directors, he wasn't hired for his experience in horror, it was his penchant for trashiness. He made three low budget schlock films before this one, including a porn film in the late 70s (his first job as director). Many feel this is why Steinmann kept pressuring the actresses to do more nude scenes beyond what they agreed to do when they were cast. Even though this film made money, it ended up being Steinmann's last directorial role.
