In Smile's first stage performance with Freddie, Brian May tries to correct Freddie when he gets the lyrics to "Keep Yourself Alive" wrong. This song was one that Brian May composed for Smile, but Freddie Mercury made changes to as the band became Queen. The song, with Freddie's changes, became Queen's first single, and the opening track on their first (eponymous) album. As the band progressed, Freddie would often put his own mark on songs that his band mates composed. In an extreme example, Roger Taylor brought a rough version of a song to the band in 1985, which Mercury ended up turning into _two_ songs: "One Vision" and "A Kind of Magic."
