At the beginning of the sixth season, Buddy Ebsen had reduced his role, as he got older and needed to slow down, a bit. Episodes that were divided between both Lee Meriwether and Mark Shera; each being the center of the attention - towards ½ of the seasons's episodes with Ebsen's involvement, dropped to slightly more than episodic cameos.
