6 gradi di separazione (1993) tells the story of a young con man (Will Smith) who scams wealthy Manhattan residents. His strategy involves convincing them that he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier, who is in New York to make a deal with a film company to produce an adaptation of the stage musical "Cats", which Poitier would supposedly direct. Among the cast is Sir Ian McKellen and a young actor credited as Jeffrey Abrams, who would later take the professional name J.J. Abrams and become a film director himself. In December 2019, the J.J. Abrams-directed film Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019) was released in theaters on the same weekend as the actual film adaptation of "Cats", in which Ian McKellan also appears.
