Toward the end of season one, episode five, "A Vile Hunger for Your Hammering Heart", when Louis mentions leaving to Lestat at Claudia's insistence, Lestat becomes enraged and begins brutally beating Louis throughout the townhouse. Moments later, at one point, Lestat drags a severely battered Louis outside, and they lift in the air. After Louis marginally pleads with Lestat, Lestat drops Louis, who lands hard on the ground in front of their townhouse. This results in Louis sustaining serious injuries that he spent several months completely recovering from. Part of this event is fairly similar to Lestat and Louis' first encounter in the film adaptation, Intervista col vampiro (1994). In the film, when Louis first encounters Lestat while he (Louis) was in the middle of a sexual encounter with a prostitute, he (Lestat) takes him and bites him as they lift in the air. After Lestat is done biting Louis, Lestat drops Louis, who lands in the river. This results in Louis becoming bedridden with illness. In both situations, this shows that Lestat has become a violent and domineering force in Louis' life.
