Gregory is referred to as age 79 early in the film, but Patrick Bauchau was just 67 years old during production of the film. Also, Gregory has not left his apartment in eight years, since the death of his partner, Renaldo, making Gregory approximately 71 years old at the time of Renaldo's death after more than fifty years together. In the flashback scenes, Gregory and Renaldo looked about fifteen or sixteen when they met (although the actor portraying Young Gregory, Chris Bethards, was about 21 years old at the time of production), which would have made their actual relationship about 55-56 years long.
