During the restaurant scene between Nick Naylor, Polly Bailey and Bobby Jay, Bobby questioned the situation where pilot is to be blamed for the plane crash rather than Boeing, an aerospace company that manufactures plane. Boeing in real life, has experienced plane crashes in 2018 and 2019. In PBS documentary, Boeing blamed the pilots of the Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 for not following their flight training properly, resulting the crashes. Evidently, Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) from the new plane model 737 Max was the cause of the crash for its design flaw and being aware of the condition, Boeing removed it from the pilot training and any references, with FAA approval on 2016. Boeing paid $2.5 billion for the fines in January 2021.
