The relationship between Velma and Shaggy arose when the show's writers watched the original series again noting that Shaggy and Velma danced together in certain scenes, that Velma kept her medicine and sometimes searched for clues together. This added to requests from many fans of the franchise who wanted to see both characters together and had not been satisfied with the relationship of both that was created in Scooby-Doo!
