Yorkshire-born session musician Ronnie Hunt performed the solo in the title music. He was paid six pounds. After many takes, composer Eric Spear was unsatisfied by the recording takes. Ronnie Hunt asked him what the music was for, where was the program was set. Once he knew, he created the sound by using a mute on his trumpet to create a cornet "Northern" brass band sound.
