The pickup truck Bridget runs past and does a double take on has a sign on the door for Hoffsteader construction. Presumably a nod or subliminal homage to Douglas Hofsteadter, a notable cognitive science professor, and Hofsteadter's law which states that 'it will always take longer than you expect, even taking into consideration Hofsteadter's law.' Which is relative to the premise of the movie.
