Opened the same day as Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (1982). The similarities don't end there; both movies met with unfavorable reactions by critics after the premiere and they were beaten by the more positive and kind Steven Spielberg's E.T. - L'extra-terrestre (1982), the biggest hit of that year. From early 90s ahead The Thing and Blade Runner are considered as some of the greatest films ever made.
